My guitar sounds weird in standard tuning?

I’ve been practicing some songs lately and the first song was in standard tuning. When I played it on my guitar, it sounded fine. Then, I moved on to another song that required a drop D tuning. Afterwards I tuned it back up to standard and tried playing the first song I mentioned, but now the tone sounds weird. It definitely is tuned right. It gives off a more scary tone now :\
I strings aren’t old either.
Sounds like an ‘intonation’ issue. Intonation is the length of the string. If this is not adjusted properly, an in tune guitar will still sound like crap. These adjustments are usually best left to a pro……research it….intonation.

It could be an intonation issue, but if its a tonality thing, then its more than likely an issue with what pickup you are switched to (if its electric) or a bridge issue if its acoustic. if its a new guitar, it may take a while for the neck to set straight and for the bridge to float to your string gauge and playing style. Keep at it, and if it shows no sign of improvement, bring it to a Luthier or just a guitar shop and have them so a "Set up" on it, they can sort out your intonation as well as accurately ensure the nut is filed down correctly and there areeno odd rasps coming from vibrating strings. They can also take a look at your electronics if it is an electric guitar.

This is hard to diagnose, because your description "scary" doesn’t convey in what way is it scary? Is it a darker sound? Tense high pitched and shrill? A deep buzz? You have to be more specific.
But if it truly sounded fine, and then you dropped only the 6th string E down to D, then back again, nothing would have changed.
If it were the intonation it would have already sounded bad. Tuning a string once won’t change the intonation.
It could be the nut.
Perhaps the string is not sitting securely in the nut-slot, or the nut has cracked. Or the string is goofed up at the bridge. Maybe a saddle is raggedly and needs to be filed or cleaned up. Electric or Acoustic? You need to tell us because they are different. If acoustic, the bridge could be leaning forward. Does it have a whammy bar? C’mon, throw me a bone here, I want to help!
Could be something happened to the string and it’s bad now.
The only other answer is that you are mistaken, and have tuned to the wrong note. Your tuner will show you in tune, even if it isn’t the right note for the string played. It happens.
