Why are nearly all electric guitars the same shape?

I know there are some exceptions, but nearly all electric guitars are the same basic shape. Surely electric guitars could be any possible shape, so why are they all designed the same?
They all have the same basic hourglass shape because it just easiest handle and carries the sound best. Even thought an electric guitar uses pickups, the wood still vibrates. If you’ve ever played the triangle ones, its a little different not having the contoured middle. But yeah, they could be other shapes

my brother makes allot of electric guitars out of descent scrap wood and he says he prefers making them in this shape. but even if all of these guitars look the same there are little differences like the angle of the slope on the corners or curved back but with just a glance the classic look can look all the same but when you’ve got a brother like mine it would be a crime to say they’re all the same!
also more wood/perspex/metal is used in other shapes so this would bump up the cost because it would mean more labor!
hope this helps!
